LCDP Hosts Spring Gala
The LCDP hosted a sold-out Spring Gala event on April 26! The event included dinner, a silent auction, and two guest speakers. The first speaker was Justin Lincks, son of LCDP Chair Beki Lincks. Justin works for the The Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies. Justin finds purpose and a deep commitment to act in support of social justice and racial equity projects. His presentation encouraged the group to make efforts to appreciate the diversity of our communities and to be responsive to our neighbors.
The second speaker was Michaela Barnett, candidate for Congress in Tennessee's second district.
She’s not fighting for corporate interests, the Democratic establishment, or for personal gain. Michaela is fighting for East Tennessee.
Michaela Barnett is a scientist, small business owner, and spent the last year working in Congress — so she knows firsthand what isn’t working, why, and what to do about it. While Republicans gave the wealthy a massive tax break on the backs of working families, gutted the federal workforce, and made ICE the biggest police force in the United States, many Democrats in D.C. responded with tactics from an old playbook that don't meet the urgency of the moment we are in. They aren't fighting back — they're waiting it out.
That’s not how we change our country for the better. We can’t just wait and hope that we swing a few seats in the midterms by being exactly the same party that keeps losing the working class. Michaela knows that we can't just be a voice in opposition — we have to show the American people our vision for the future, our plan for how we're going to achieve it, and fight for it with all our might.

No Kings Rally
On Saturday, March 28, 2026 the world watched as 100's of 1,000s protestors joined in the No Kings Rallys. In Loudon rallyied from 1-3 pm at the Loudon County Courthouse. Between 300 and 400 people were there.
We the people are constitutionally mandated to peacefully protest when our government needs reminding that we do not agree with the direction of the administration. In order to make a change we need to make our voices heard. It is a proven fact.
More than 8 million people turned out across the US at over 3,300 “No Kings” protests in all 50 states in one of the largest single-day demonstration in U.S. history. The first two rounds, in June and October 2025, drew an estimated 5 million and 7 million, respectively. Independent verification of the figures was not immediately available.
Bruce Springsteen performed "Streets of Minneapolis" at the flagship rally in St. Paul, telling a crowd of at least 100,000 that "federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. They picked the wrong city." Gov. Tim Walz, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Jane Fonda and Joan Baez also spoke or performed.
